The Oak Ridges Trail Association (ORTA) is seeking a Co‑Chapter Chair for the Uxbridge Chapter — a volunteer leadership role that helps steward, protect, and celebrate the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail within the Township of Uxbridge.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, values the natural environment, and wants to play a meaningful role in the local trail community. One of the most important parts of the role is fostering community involvement and promoting ORTA and the hiking culture within Uxbridge. We’re looking for a strong, positive community champion who believes in the importance of the trail.
About the Role
The Co‑Chapter Chair works alongside fellow volunteers to:
- Support Trail Captains and help coordinate seasonal trail maintenance
- Lead twice‑yearly trail inspections (spring and fall)
- Maintain good relationships with local landowners and conservation partners
- Participate in community committees and events
- Promote ORTA and raise awareness of the Oak Ridges Trail
- Provide updates to the ORTA Board and contribute to the success of the organization
You don’t need technical trail‑building experience — just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn and collaborate.
