ORTA Receives Greenbelt Foundation Grant and Welcomes Project Manager
The Oak Ridges Trail Association (ORTA) is proud to announce over $190,000 in funding from the Greenbelt Foundation to implement the Greenbelt Oak Ridges Moraine Trail Strategy. This initiative follows extensive collaboration with stakeholders, members, and volunteers across the Moraine.
Implementation will focus on:
- Identifying a long-term preferred trail route and developing a land securement strategy
- Enhancing trail sustainability, user experience, and ecological protection
- Supporting Indigenous reconciliation and governance improvements
- Strengthening volunteer engagement and organizational capacity
As part of this initiative, ORTA has appointed Michael Goodyear as Project Manager. Michael brings over 20 years of national experience in trail development, stakeholder engagement, and conservation leadership.
This work is also supported by the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation and will involve partners including municipalities, conservation authorities, First Nations communities, and dedicated volunteers.
