New RFP Issued to Support Trail Data Management for the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail

The Oak Ridges Trail Association (ORTA), in partnership with the Greenbelt Foundation, has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking a qualified consultant team to design and implement a centralized system for managing trail data for the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail (ORMT).

This project will create a shared geospatial database to store trail attributes, infrastructure, amenities, and related information, along with clear, volunteer‑friendly protocols for data collection and management. A plain‑language user manual will also be developed to support volunteer training and long‑term use of the system.

The initiative is a key deliverable supporting implementation of the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail Strategy, helping strengthen trail stewardship, planning, monitoring, and reporting across the trail network. The focus is on creating a practical, sustainable system that can be maintained over time by a volunteer‑led organization.

The RFP invites proposals from consultants or teams with experience in GIS, spatial data management, and user‑friendly data systems. Proponents are encouraged to review the full scope of work, deliverables, and submission requirements.

Proposal deadline: May 11, 2026
Anticipated project completion: August 2026
