Thank you to ORTA’s King Chapter trail maintenance volunteers Craig, Nancy, Rob, Susan, and John for their recent work installing geo-block panels in partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC).
ORTA was pleased to contribute funding toward the panels, which will help improve trail sustainability and reduce wear in challenging sections. While the geo-block surface may feel firmer underfoot initially, the honeycomb cells will gradually fill with organic material, creating a softer, more natural walking surface over time.
The volunteers also received a visit from David Love and Ann Love, whose family donated the Love Mountain property to NCC in 2013, helping to protect an additional 90 acres within the Happy Valley Forest Natural Area. Their generous conservation gift continues to benefit trail users and wildlife alike.
Thank you to everyone involved for helping keep the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail safe, sustainable, and enjoyable for future generations.
