Exciting News: ORTA Welcomes Dan Myall as New Trail Director

We are thrilled to announce that Dan Myall has been appointed as the new Trail Director for the Oak Ridges Trail Association (ORTA)!

Dan is a certified hike leader with a deep passion for trails and the great outdoors. His dedication to hiking and trail stewardship is well known within our community. A few years ago, Dan—alongside fellow ORTA and Ganaraska Hiking Trail Association member Neil Runnalls—led a group to successfully complete the 500 km Ganaraska Hiking Trail end-to-end challenge. This remarkable achievement speaks volumes about Dan’s leadership, endurance, and love for the trail.

Dan is also an active member of the Ganaraska Hiking Trail Association’s Wilderness Club, further demonstrating his commitment to exploring and preserving Ontario’s natural landscapes.

Please note that the Trail Director role is a volunteer position, and we are incredibly grateful to Dan for stepping into this important role.

Dan spent his 34-year career in the aircraft industry as an overhaul and repair mechanic, original equipment mechanic and finally as a Test and Final Instructor. He has always been involved in the community in various roles such as coaching sports, trainer and served as Director of Referees for Pickering Hockey Association. Now in retirement, he is excited to dedicate his time and energy to supporting the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail.

Dan is looking forward to getting to know the Chapter Chairs and working closely with their trail maintenance teams to ensure our trails remain safe, and enjoyable for all.

Please join us in giving Dan a warm welcome as he begins this new chapter with ORTA!
