The Greenbelt Foundation and the Oak Ridges Trail Association (ORTA) have issued a call for proposals to help guide the next phase of the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail Strategy, a long‑term initiative to enhance the 268‑km trail that spans the Moraine. This new engagement process will gather community input to refine the Trail’s long‑term Preferred Route, improve user experience, and identify priority amenities, especially as 40% of the current trail runs along roads and requires improvements for safety, accessibility, and continuity.
The project will include public open houses, outreach to landowners, and the creation of a professionally designed “What We Heard” report to guide future decision‑making and investment in the trail. By strengthening relationships with trail partners, public landowners, private landowners, and community members, this initiative aims to ensure a safer, more connected, and more inspiring Oak Ridges Moraine Trail experience for generations to come.
See the following link for the full proposal details. Submissions due by April 7, 2026.
