We are pleased to announce that Neil Runnalls has been appointed as the new President of the Oak Ridges Trail Association (ORTA).
Neil joined ORTA in 2023 and quickly made an impact by leading an ambitious End-to-End Series of hikes, which successfully concluded this past February. A long-time supporter of the trail, Neil has been hiking ORTA routes for many years—and uniquely, the ORTA main trail passes directly by his home in the Uxbridge area, where he lives with his family.
Neil brings a strong background in leadership and community service. He began leading hikes in 2019 with the Wilderness Club in Queen Elizabeth Highlands Provincial Park and has proudly led an End-to-End journey of the Ganaraska Trail. Professionally, Neil is a retired elementary school principal from the Toronto District School Board. He currently serves as a Board Member for Durham Youth Services and, in his spare time, enjoys tending to his farm property.
Neil’s passion for the outdoors, proven leadership, and commitment to community make him an excellent fit to guide ORTA into its next chapter. We look forward to his leadership and vision as we continue to enhance and promote the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail.
Please join us in welcoming Neil to his new role.
