ORTA is organized into ten "Chapters" along the Moraine, so that local knowledge can be used to plan, develop and maintain the trail. The Chapters are: Caledon, King, Aurora, Richmond Hill, Whitchurch-Stouffville, Uxbridge, Scugog, Clarington, Hope/Hamilton and Northumberland.

Each is represented on the Board of Directors by a Chapter Chair. Within each chapter is the local chapter committee, responsible for organizing local events. An e-mail distribution list is maintained by chapter to assist in communicating with members.
